Therapy
Psychotherapy is a highly effective treatment for many psychiatric conditions, and I routinely use it to treat depression and various anxiety disorders, either on its own or in conjunction with medication. Typically, we will maintain weekly appointments over a 4-6 month timeframe, which in many cases is sufficient to bring about significant improvements. Depending on your specific issues and goals, we may choose to pursue longer-term therapy.
Therapy is really a partnership of health in that we join forces to access your inner wisdom and wholeness. My therapy style weaves together several approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems (parts work), and deep existential explorations. Sessions are highly interactive and balance structure with open exploration. Our work skillfully incorporates humor, laughter, and irreverence. Additionally, we will utilize homework to reinforce the gains you are making in therapy and to translate them into your everyday life.
Medication Treatment
When judiciously prescribed, psychiatric medication can be a powerful tool to reduce symptoms and improve one’s quality of life. For some conditions, it is an absolutely necessary component of treatment. Medication may also serve as a vehicle to help patients effectively engage in psychotherapy and lifestyle interventions.
My approach to psychiatric medication is to:

Safely reduce or discontinue it whenever possible, with the understanding that some
conditions require long-term medication treatment -

Lifestyle Intervention
Physical activity, supplements, meditation, and social connection are potent interventions that are often as effective as medication. We will typically integrate one or more of these into your treatment plan in an achievable way that doesn’t overwhelm you.

A coaching-based approach is ideal when my patients have achieved significant improvement and want to create more in their lives.
